Comments:  This is the first instalment of Korean movies that Chan-Wook Park directed about the theme of revenge. The second movie is Oldboy and the third one, that will be released in May, Lady Vengeance.Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance tells a very intricate story about this deaf guy called Ryu who has a sister that is dying of kidney failure and needs a kidney transplant. Since he has a different blood type, he cannot donate his to save his sister. He decides to sorta sell his kidney on the black market. Next day Ryu discovers that he had been ripped off. Ryu and his girlfriend hatch a better plan, to kidnap his bosses' daughter, the boss who just fired him. But, after that, everything goes wrong and a vicious cycle of revenge has started! I just have to say I loved this movie! This is one of the best movies I've seen. I know it is not horror but it plays as a suspense/thriller, you know that kind of suspense that you get so intrigued that you need to know what is going to happen next? Yeah, this is that movie! The acting is amazingly good, the photography is really beautiful and the direction is excellent!! Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance is a 5 stab wounds out of 5. Hellgirl's rating: 5/5  |
