The Fearless Vampire Killers is a clever comedy-horror directed by and starring Roman Polanski. An expert on bats, Professor Abronsius (Jack MacGowran) and his dim-witted assistant, Alfred (Roman Polanski), travel to Transylvania to find and destroy vampires, where Alfred falls for the vampire's latest target - the inn-keeper's daughter. Originally released in the UK as Dance of the Vampires, this is a true horror classic from the great director. Comments:  The slowness of the action may be because the script was originally written in French, but shot in English, and we all know how long it takes to translate anything in that godawful language!Polanski, not surprisingly, asked that his name be removed from the credits. Still a good send up, however, of the more serious Dracula movies. Sharon Tate was murdered by the Manson Family... shame... she was pretty. Dr Blood's rating: 5/10  |
