One of the biggest draws for a horror film audience is the presence of a "Scream Queen", "Blood Babe" or, more simply, just a beautiful woman getting nekkid before the monster gets her. If "The Wicker Man" didn't have the scene where Britt Ekland sings and dances naked, would it still be a great horror film? Of course not. And if all those Hammer horror films had been without those busty sexy wenches would they still be as popular today as when they were released? Definitely not. In fact there are very few horror films which are not improved at least 100% by a well formed pair of mammary glands and a pert young bottom. The Americans call it "Tits & Ass", us Brits call it "Tits and Fanny", and people who haven't had sex in years call it "sexploitation" but whether it's tits, fannies, asses or arses, one thing stays the same... if there's none of it in the horror movie we're watching we feel cheated. Psychologists have suggested that it is all about youth exploring taboo subjects which causes the need to couple sex with horror. To a point they may be right, but, as every director knows, "SEX SELLS" and the use of a pretty face to sell things is far older than the art of movies. As movies increasingly face such stiff competition from other sources of entertainment is it any wonder that film companies have placed far more importance on the sex appeal of their stars than anything else? Who wants to see someone homely in a film they've paid money to see. The audience wants fantasy, to see beautiful people, to wish they could be with their idols even if it means running scared from the slavering jaws of monsters. And with the defeat of the monster, the primitive sexual rush of the conquering hero comes to the fore again. Are girls really surprised that men like to take them to see horror films? The whole horror film is a kind of foreplay which teases us into sexual ecstacy... and woe betide the girlfriend who says "I've got a headache" after two hours of "Lesbian Chainsaw Lustbuckets versus The Fanny Fiend"!!! "Scream Queens" play a vital role in the entertainment value of a horror movie and for this reason, Dr Blood's Video Vault now pays homage to those actresses whose mission in horror films is simply to turn us on! They all do it well... some even do it too well... the best are here for your satisfaction... And there's more! We mustn't neglect the models. Lest we forget the important role they provide in spicing up conventions and the covers of our favourite magazines, there is also a section just for them here as well. Enjoy! |
