Forest of the Damned (2005)

(AKA Demonic)

"A group of friends go on a roadtrip and come to a stop in a forest where legend has it a group of naked bisexual female monsters lurk. Will they awake them? And if so will they survive?"

This was a terrible shame. It was a nice idea and even had quite a neat "trapped in a farmhouse by a psycho" scene featuring Tom Savini in the middle but it isn't something that will leave its mark on the British horror film industry. "Forest of the Damned" isn't even worthy to be a skidmark in its underpants.

It's really just another "trapped in the woods", stalk and slash jobby but with a supernatural element that doesn't quite make any sense.

I liked the start and the way that some of the characters worked but the plot had far too many holes and elements that weren't explained.

The cameo with horror author Shaun Hutson at the end was also, for the most part, pointless. But doesn't Shaun Hutson look old now? I remember when he used to dress like some kind of heavy metal fan and appear on late night telly in the 1980s. He looks about ready for his pension now, poor dear. Oh well, it's coming to us all.

I'll give it 2 out of 10. It wasn't scary or sexy but was filmed quite well.
